Matcha & Strawberry Swiss Roll

My latest YouTube video is up, and it’s the start of a fun new series focused on felt desserts! I won’t be doing these every week, but I am hoping to do a dessert video once a month.

Today’s project is a cute, hand-sewn Matcha Strawberry Swiss Roll Cake. It was incredibly fun to stitch together, and makes the cutest desk decor or play food. I have a few other desserts in mind, but I am always open to suggestions, so please leave a comment!

💡 Quick Tips The Materials:

  • Felt: Before buying your materials, definitely check your local fabric store for felt! They usually sell felt by the meter/yard or in larger bolts, which is typically much cheaper than buying individual small sheets at an art or craft supply store
  • Wool / Acrylic: If you can get your hands on a wool-blend felt, it’s definitely worth getting over pure acrylic felt! Acrylic felt can feel a bit stiff and plasticky, whereas a wool-acrylic blend is much softer, holds its shape beautifully, and gives your stitched treats a much higher-quality finish.
  • Stitching: Matching your thread color closely to your felt color hides minor uneven stitches. Blanket stitch works great for joining edges securely
